Discovery Class
You keep coming back on Sundays and something feels right, but you want to understand what this church is really about. The Discovery Class gives you that — four Sunday mornings, real conversation, and a clear look at how Jesus shapes everything at Riverwood Chapel in Kent, Ohio.
Over four weeks, the class walks through the mission, values, beliefs, and leadership of Riverwood. You will meet staff, hear the story behind the church, and get practical next steps for getting connected. The environment is casual, and questions are welcome.
At the end of the four weeks, you have the option to return for the Membership Class the following week. That session explains what membership means at Riverwood, what the process looks like, and what you can expect if you choose to pursue it. There is no pressure to pursue membership — it is an invitation, not a requirement.
When: Sunday mornings in Room 115, offered every other month. A Saturday morning version (4-hour experience) is also available a few times throughout the year.

GO PUBLIC WITH YOUR FAITH
Baptism
Baptism is an outward picture of an inward change. At Riverwood Chapel, baptism happens through full water immersion, a physical demonstration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
If you are a believer and have never been baptized, this is the step where your faith goes public.
Baptism is an act of obedience and testimony. It declares to everyone watching that you belong to Jesus. Riverwood practices baptism because Christ commanded it, and the church celebrates every time someone steps into the water.
How Baptism Works at Riverwood
Step 1:
Register
Sign up to let the team know you are interested.
Step 2:
Fill out the Baptism Testimony Form.
Share your story of faith in your own words.
Step 3:
Meet with a Pastor.
You will sit down with the pastor baptizing you to talk about your faith in Jesus and the purpose of baptism.
Step 5:
Invite People
Bring your friends, your family, and anyone who has been part of your story. Baptism is a celebration, and the people who matter to you should be in the room.
Step 4:
Attend the Baptism Logistics Meeting.
This happens two weeks before baptism Sunday. The team will record your testimony, take your photo, and walk you through everything you need to know for the day.

"Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38
Baptism has been a mark of faith since the earliest days of the Church. It identifies you with Jesus and with the community of believers following Him. Riverwood Chapel practices baptism by immersion because it reflects the biblical pattern: buried with Christ, raised to new life.
Following Jesus leads to serving others. Riverwood Chapel runs on people who show up, and there is a place for you in that mission. From greeting families on Sunday morning to leading a small group to coaching kids sports to delivering meals during hard seasons, serving is how faith becomes visible.
